longitudinal slip

longitudinal slip
the ratio of the longitudinal slip velocity to the spin velocity of the straight free-rolling tire expressed as a percentage. Note: this quantity should not be confused with the slip number that frequently appears in kinematic analysis of tires in which the spin velocity appears in the denominator.
